With a change in sponsorship and Club logo this season, the Club needs to have a new playing shirt approved by the Association, and Association rules state that all players who take the field for the Club are required to wear the approved playing shirt. It is for this reason that a $10 subsidy is available for the first playing shirt ordered. (eg sale price $20, with subsidy $15)

The two different playing shirts available:

• the cool shirt, 55% cotton, 45% polyester, made from a cooler lighter material wiht a breathable strip under the arm and down the side.
• the traditional shirt, 65% polyester, 35% combed cotton interlock, the shirt has been availabel for the previous two seasons.

Samples of both shirts are available for viewing and sizes at Sunday morning training shirts.

Some items available for order require the Club to reach a minimum order, if the Club doesn’t reach the minimum order, the items will not be ordered and any deposit will be refunded.

It is important to note again that all merchandise items need to be ordered through the Merchandise Order Form before 10 September 2010.

Orders require a 20% deposit to secure your order, with balance payable on delivery.

Please return the form before 10 September 2010:

• at Sunday morning training with a cash or cheque deposit; or
• with a cheque deposit to PO Box 47 Coldstream 3770. Cheques should be made payable to ‘Gruyere District Cricket Club Inc.’

yes our first social function was a hit at Ming’s despite the attempt to sing from some other members in the restaurant. (There is a lot to be said for hosting your own karaoke night at the clubrooms where the talent is exceptionally high……and loud.) Our social gathering look like picking up pace with a night out at Nicko’s Croydon and then the now legendary AFL Grand final at the nest. It’s all happening in September.

OK, so the season is nearly here and we are looking for some financial assistance to start the year. Details of the subs are on the website AND SO IS OUR banking details. Please try transferring money a little at a time from now till October say, $20 per pay? There will be a sizeable prize for some lucky person who has paid all their subs before the start of the season so give it a crack.

As you may be aware we had a social gathering at Ming Pavilion on Sat 14th August.It was a great night as always! People singing! People dancing! Great food! Great company! The numbers were not huge but the ones who came made up for it.

It started brilliantly with Dean P getting Russell T up on stage to do a great rendition of Come Said the Boy by Mondo Rock, and from then on, as usual, we could not keep Dean off the stage – he even managed to talk the hosts into going overtime so he could sing one more (at least his 7th) song of the night.

Adrian V went up to sing the David R favourite Midnight Oil as David had an unusual case of shyness.Some people just don’t recognise their own talent! Makes up for his cricket efforts in recent years! hahahahaha No hard feelings Didds!

It was good to see some different faces with the VDVlugt parents joining the shindig.

Red wine flowed and arms were thrown about – whilst still sitting – in what was apparently described as dancing.

The variety of music was interesting to say the least with a Hens party at another table doing every rendition of a love song and then changing to break up songs somewhere in the middle.

There was some country music and many oldies from the 60′s. Now I know a lot of old songs – you know I do have to listen to the music my parents like but even I am not worldly enough to know some of the ones that came out on stage!

Some of the singers from the whole room were not cover-band material but they certainly kept the night interesting and we appreciated the fantastic singers all the more!

Overall, a very entertaining night and a good lead up to season 2010/11.
